Epiic Trip 2020

James center stage, having a Twilight Princess moment (White Rock Bay, Antelope Island)
This February was the second of Jay's annual Epic Trip on our Ikon pass. We scooted out to Salt Lake City the week after President's Day in hopes of missing the crowds but hoovering up all the leftover snow. I was 7 weeks into a torn LCL so my skiing was as cautious and ill-advised as an octogenarian on a highway.

Obligatory chair selfie with Alyssa, Sara and Jay as we cruise up Crest Express (Brighton Ski Resort, Utah)
The lines were thin and the snow was thick as we queued up our first run. Brighton's in-bounds glades are as bountiful as they are forbidden to my wobbly knee. The fomo was real as I watched Alyssa and Angela dip into the trees. I felt like a puppy being dropped off at daycare.

Sometimes Angela pities me enough to keep me company (Brighton Ski Resort, Utah)
Solitude feels like Brighton's older brother. Less playful and way more steep. I typically get quite bored of wide open bomber groomers but for the first time ever my gimpy self was grateful for the terrain.

Zooming through the canyons are the few times I actually enjoy driving (Big Cottonwood Canyon, Utah)
Traveling, ski trips, and good food go hand in hand. Dinners were exquisite and of course I have to hit up cocktail bars.
I asked you to give me a refreshing drink. I didn't expect a complete autumn harvest! You can fall in love with a barn owl in here! (The Rest, Salt Lake City)
Glamour shots of Drew making steak. It's a thing.
Rest days were spent rock climbing at The Front SLC and hiking around Antelope Island. The sunset at the salt flats basically turns any photo into a Pulitzer contender. The world trembles at the sound of a million Instagramers adding this to their travel lists.

The creepy thing is that reflection-me is facing a different direction than real-me. Angela is unimpressed. (White Rock Bay, Antelope Island) 📷: @wantsomegraham
Who photos the photographer? Me. It's me. (White Rock Bay, Antelope Island)

Have the Uruks turned northeast?! Drew, what do your elf-eyes see?! (White Rock Bay, Antelope Island)
Capping the trip off at Snowbird was the final boss. The accumulated fatigue on my knee plus 24 ounces of India pale ale finally took its toll. Re-tweaking my LCL on the last day at the hardest yet most awesome mountain of the three means no more cheesy selfies for the rest of the trip. This ain't over, Salt Lake City. There will be a round two when I'm healthy enough to chomp through those glades.

There are two Jasons in this photo. Now I'm the guy. (Snowbird Ski Resort, Utah)
